AFED at Mediterranean Green Economy Conference in Marseille

The report on Green Economy, produced by the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), is continuing to attract interest among governments, international organizations and the private sector. Following its release in Beirut in October 2011, the report was endorsed in public initiatives and programs, assigned as mandatory reading and included in the curricula of business schools and international relations programs at various universities. The most recent endorsement went beyond the Arab region, with the launching of the Mediterranean report on Green Growth, being produced by the Center of Mediterranean Integration (CMI) under the lead of the World Bank.
AFED at ESCWA Ministerial Panel

AFED participated in the 27th ministerial session of the UN Economic Commission for West Asia (ESCWA) which was held in Beirut between 7-10 May 2012. Secretary General Najib Saab participated in a ministerial panel held on 9 May on Arab regional preparations for Rio.
AFED at Amman-Cologne Water Symposium
"Green Growth and Water Resources in the MENA Region" was the title of a symposium in Amman, jointly organized by the University of Jordan and Cologne University of Applied Sciences. The symposium, held under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El-Hassan, was addressed by 15 experts, mostly coming from Germany. The topics covered economic growth models for the Arab region, resource efficiency, value of natural capital, and innovations towards implementing the green growth model.
Water Security: Knowing What We Need to Know
Eye on Earth, Abu Dhabi - 14 December 2011
AFED Secretary General Najib Saab moderated a main session during the Eye on Earth Summit in Abu Dhabi. Participating in the session, titled "Water Security: Knowing What We Need To Know", was Dr. Asma Al Kasmi, Director of the Arab Water Academy and AFED board of trustees member.

Arab Environment in 10 Years
ARAB ENVIRONMENT IN 10 YEARS crowns a decade of the series of annual reports produced by the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) on the state of Arab environment. It tracks and analyzes changes focusing on policies and governance, including level of response and engagement in international environmental treaties. It also highlights developments in six selected priority areas, namely water, energy, air, food, green economy and environmental scientific research.
